Elvis Has Left the Building, Las Vegas Sun, March 6,1996
Elvis has left the building

Before she erected a wrought-iron fence around her home and brought in a guard dog, Hart says, people were constantly hound-dogging her for memorabilia.
"They knocked on the door (and asked), 'Can we come in and get a picture, we're Elvis fans.' It got to the point where kids would bring a pad and pen and ask us to do autographs," she says.
It's Hartland, folks, not Graceland!
And forget about growing grass in the yard -- the followers even snagged her sprinklers.
"It's very sad because we can't say to each and every one of them, 'Well, he doesn't live here, he's left the building.'"
Or has he? Hart recalls a former secretary who swore that the light in the mansion's Elvis bathroom mysteriously turned on from time to time.
Is the house haunted? No way, Hart says. "It's so insane for anybody to think such a thing."
It's just one of several myths about Hartland conjured up over the years, like the one about it being home to "Hart to Hart" star Robert Wagner.
"... Because our name is Hart, so then they started to come here to try to get autographs from Robert Wagner," she says.
"We said, 'No, we're Hart, but there's no Robert Wagner here. We wish there was. That would be fun.'"
